The cases of use of violence, destruction and stealing of state property will be examined by a joint investigation group. Such a decision was taken in a working meeting of the Cabinet and heads of rule of law institutions, which centered on the demonstrations mounted in central Chisinau, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.
Presenting a report, Minister of the Interior Alexandru Jizdan said 27 police officers and four protesters suffered injuries during the violent clashes. Eleven policemen of those hurt were hospitalized. A number of police officers were dispossessed of nightsticks, helmets, shields and mobile phones.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip instructed that the police obey the law and prevent the escalation of the situation, and ensure the protection of the people and state property.
