The leaders of the Alliance for European Integration expressed different opinions on the Constitutional Court’s decision whereby the December 16 elections were declared unconstitutional. But they said that it will be obeyed.
“The Court’s decision can be discussed, commented on, but it must be respected. The Parliament should adopt decisions based on the Court’s judgment,” said the Liberal-Democratic leader Vlad Filat.
The Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu said it was a correct decision, but nobody can hold accountable an MP for his/her political actions.
The Democratic Party head Marian Lupu said he still considers that nothing unconstitutional was done when the ballots were shown, especially because there are at least two similar precedents – in the election of the Head of Parliament of August 2009 and December 2010.
The Speaker said an extraordinary session of Parliament will be held on Sunday, after the special sitting where the head of state was to be elected.
Vlad Filat said that until then the AEI will present a political agenda that contains steps aimed at ensuring the election of the President.
