The meeting between the leaders of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) and the members of the Council of the Great National Assembly didn’t take place. The politicians didn’t come to discuss with the representatives of the people protesting in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau, as these asked, IPN reports.
Instead, the Government’s secretary general Sergiu Palihovici came and said that he knows nothing about the leaders of the AEI, but he is ready to answer the questions that are within his competence.
In reaction, the head of the Council of the Great National Assembly Andrei Nastase said that this negligence strengthens the conviction that the power in the state remains captured and reiterated protesters’ demands in the presence of Government’s secretary general, including that the senior administration should resign and that early legislative elections should be held.
Council member Valentin Dolganiuc said the pilgrimage of protesters’ representatives in an attempt to meet with the government officials failed and, in such conditions, when those who were elected ignore the dialogue, the members of the Council reserve the right to continue protesting.
“Tell the senior state officials that our pilgrimage is over and you should know that now we control the protesters, but your ignorance and negligence could lead to larger protests. We reserve the right to stage protests in each settlement and each district of the country,” stated Dolganiuc.
Today is the fourth day of protests in the Great National Assembly Square. On September 6, the protest involved about 100,000 people, according to the organizers. Many of these afterward decided to protest nonstop and put up tents in the Square.
