AEI: Timofti will be people’s not alliance’s President

Nicolae Timofti will be the entire people’s President, not of a group of MPs, in the given case of the Alliance for European Integration, said the leaders of the ruling alliance, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We had the possibility of finding a candidate who has all the qualities needed to be a good President. It wasn’t easy. I mean the period during which we looked for candidates. On March 16, we will unanimously vote for Nicolae Timofti,” the Liberal-Democratic leader Vlad Filat said in a news conference where the presidential candidate Nicolae Timofti was presented. The Liberal Party’s chairman Mihai Ghimpu said that after two painful years and a half, God produced a suitable candidate for this post. “By our votes on March 16, we will bring the speculations that the AEI cannot come to an agreement to an end,” he stated. The head of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu said that he discussed with Nicolae Timofti and understood that he is a worthy candidate for the presidency. “Mister Timofti is a well-known person who always made effort for the law and justice to triumph. Today we collected the signatures of all the AEI lawmakers and Nicolae Timofti is to be registered as a candidate,” he stated. For his part, Nicolae Timofti stressed that he will act in accordance with the supreme law if he is elected and will not safeguard the interests of a group of people. The AEI’s candidate has not yet discussed with unaffiliated MP Mihai Godea and the group of Socialists. The presidential elections will take place on March 16, during a special sitting of Parliament, starting at 3pm.
