The melting of snow followed by colder weather does not endanger the autumn crops. There is no danger of frost, at least in the coming period, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov has told Info-Prim Neo. “Severe frost that can harm the crops is not expected. Precipitation was forecast for the next days. It will snow and the fields will be covered with snow again,” said Vasile Bumacov. In another development, the official said that he had a meeting with grain producers and processors to decide how to better distribute the almost 29,000 tonnes of wheat lent to farmers from the state reserve until the new harvest. During the next seven days, nighttime temperatures will be around minus 4 degrees Celsius, while daytime temperatures around plus 6 degrees Celsius. Precipitation is forecast for February 9-12. More than 325,000 hectares were sowed with wheat last autumn.
