AIE strengthens position at local level by signing agreement

The Alliance for European Integration (AEI) will sign an agreement that will lay the foundations of alliances at local level. The accord will set down the principles of distributing responsibilities on the district councils, the leaders of the ruling alliance said Tuesday after the meeting of the AEI Council, Info-Prim Neo reports. The head of the Liberal Democratic Party, Prime Minister Vlad Filat said the accord will represent a continuation of the agreement on the formation of the AEI at central level. The Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu said the agreement will strengthen the AEI at local level. “We now have an alliance at central level and need to form an alliance at local level,” said Mihai Ghimpu. A working group will be formed to draft the agreement. It will consist of Mihai Moldovanu, of the Liberal Party, Valeriu Lazar, of the Democratic Party, and Victor Bodiu, of the Liberal Democratic Party. Speaker Marian Lupu, head of the Democratic Party, said it was a decision agreed last yearend. “We must make effort to extend the Alliance for European Integration from national to local level. Today this principle was confirmed unanimously,” said Marian Lupu. The agreement will be signed in several days.
