The airline Air Moldova started to provide flights on April 20 following the opening of the Moldovan airspace and partially of the European one, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the company.
The first flight set off for Saint Petersburg at 6.15 on Tuesday morning. It was followed by the flight to Moscow at 7.15. Irina Gasca, the head of the airline’s press office, said the planes took off on time.
Another plane will leave for Moscow today at 19.00. The flights to Istanbul, at 12.40, and to Rome, at 13.00, were also resumed.
No flights will be operated to Frankfurt and Milan owing to the unfavorable weather conditions caused by the volcanic ash cloud. “The airline is informed about the flight conditions every 6 hours as certain restrictions are still in force,” Irina Gasca said.
Most of the persons who bought tickets for the cancelled flights wanted to get to Moscow. “The tickets were changed. We provide two flights to Moscow a day. Many of the passengers rescheduled the flight for tomorrow,” Irina Gasca added.
The Moldovan airspace was closed on Friday, April 16.
