There are yet police officers in Moldova who abuse their power when they stop drivers in traffic without a serious reason, Minister of the Interior Alexandru Jizdan stated in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

According to him, there are police employees who act according to their character, gained professional experience or their muscular power. “Such people should not serve in the police. All our employees should act according to the same algorithm,” said the minister.

Alexandru Jizdan noted that the police should not forget that they represent not themselves, but the state and should be more indulgent towards the people. In the system, there are honest persons who do their job, save people, but there are also exceptions when police officers break the law when they take bribe.

The minister also said that the employees of the Ministry of the Interior will try to become more credible before drivers. The lack of trust in the police sometimes generates unhealthy polemic between the patrolling officer and the driver. “Polemics usually appear with drivers who know mainly their rights, but do not know their obligations. These are self-important persons,” stated Alexandru Jizdan.

The minister said that to avoid confrontations between the police and motorists, the patrolling officers during two weeks will be trained how to behave when they stop units of transport. There will be a set of standard procedures by which the police officers will have to abide in their work.
