The main goal of the police reform is to bring the police closer to the people, Minister of the Interior Alexandru Jizdan stated in the program “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.

“We want the police to work so that the people see support in them, not a scarecrow, as the parents use to scare their children with these. We want to transform the police from an organ of the power into an organ friendly to the population,” said the minister.

Alexandru Jizdan noted that to achieve this goal, emphasis will be laid on the equipment of the police. “We want to organize things so that the police arrive at the people’s request at most 15 minutes late. For this, we need cars, computers, software, etc. The current equipment of the police is old and should be replaced,” he said.

The minister also said that a lot of work will be done on the training of the police and a training center is to be opened in Chisinau. “The police officer should be correct towards the citizens, while the citizens should understand what they were fined for. The people often complain not about being fined, for about how they were fined. The police officer imposes the fine correctly, but cannot explain the person why this was fined. The citizen should realize the mistake and should not perceive the fine as revenge on the part of the police officer,” stated Alexandru Jizdan.
