All the persons involved in real estate schemes will be brought to justice and the relevant materials will be sent to the Prosecutor’s Office. “Those who misused the public funds will be held accountable,” the candidate for mayor of Chisinau of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) Andrei Nastase was quoted by IPN as saying.
“It should be very clear - we will analyze thoroughly all the transactions with public property in Chisinau so as to mandatorily repair the damage caused to the municipal budget. To be even clearer - we will make sure that those who misappropriated public funds go to jail. The rules at the Chisinau City Hall will be changed so harshly that those who now fiddle around at the expense of the people will be removed,” the candidate stated in a news conference given near a plot of 0.914 ha situated near a kindergarten. This was sold for only 297,000 lei to the branch of a private education institution of Russia. Later, the plot was resold at a much higher price and its purpose was turned into land for construction.
Andrei Nastase noted the City Hall didn’t check the whole process of privatizing the land to prevent the change of its purpose and didn’t raise the question about the damage caused to the municipal budget by the difference in the normative and commercial prices at which the plot was sold.
PPPDA deputy chairman Alexandru Slusari said absolutely nothing was done by the municipal administration to eliminate the defective practices that cause considerable damage to the municipal budget.
