The laboratory of allergology and clinical immunology of the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Nicolae Testemitanu” was outfitted with modern equipment within the Grant Assistance for Human Security Projects of the Grassroots Program “Kusanone” that is supported by the Government of Japan, IPN reports.
The University’s rector Ion Ababii said the purchased equipment enables to do tests to make diagnoses and to provide appropriate medical assistance to patients who suffer from different immune disorders. Up to 100 tests could be done during an year. Earlier they could perform 4-5 tests a day. Owing to the new equipment, the results will be more precise. The apparatus will also help the students to better learn the profession.
Japan’s Ambassador to Moldova Masanobu Yoshii underlined the importance of improving the quality of citizens‘ life, in particular in the health sector. “We supported a number of projects in health through the “Kusanone” program at the local and district levels. This project is implemented in education because education plays a very important role in society,” stated the diplomat.
The project to modernize the laboratory had a budget of US$ 83,000.
Within the equipment presentation event, Ambassador Masanobu Yoshii was conferred the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Nicolae Testemitanu” for national and international multilateral assistance and for the support provided to the Republic of Moldova and its health system.
