The Government approved changes to the methodology concerning the provision of benefits to young health professionals and pharmacists placed in villages. The notion of “young specialist” was defined and it was specified that the allowance given in accordance with the law on health protection will also be provided to young specialists who studied on a contract basis if they take up the job to which they are assigned by the Ministry of Health, IPN reports.

Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu reminded that the allowance is of 120,000 lei for doctors and pharmacists and of 96,000 lei for medical and pharmaceutical personnel with professional education. The sum is paid in three equal installments: after the first month of work and after each year of work.

According to the Ministry of Health, only two thirds of the doctors are involved in the curative-prophylactic process. The ratio of doctors to people is of 27 to 10,000. In districts, the ratio is even lower: 2-3 doctors per 10,000 people.
