The national laboratories processed 568 samples and detected the novel coronavirus in 149 of them. The health authorities call on the population to take all the measures to prevent the spread of infection and to stay at home, IPN reports.
After the meeting of the Single Command Center that monitors the COVID-19 pandemic, Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu said that one of the 149 infections was imported, from the UK, while the rest are local transmission cases. As many as 57 new cases were recorded in the municipality of Chisinau, 23 in Soroca district, 17 in the Transnistrian region.
Viorica Dumbrăveanu noted that the triage center at “Moldexpo” started work on April 10 and the first 13 persons were admitted there. These will remain there until the samples taken from them are processed. Later, based on the software with data about the number of places available at medical institutions, the patients will be referred.
Given that the weekend is coming, the minister called on the people to refrain from going out and to take measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Epidemiological experts estimate the number of infections will rise in the period.
Moldova is under a state of emergency until May 15. The infections with COVID-19 now rose to 1,438, with the death toll standing at 29. Three of the victims were doctors. Fifty-six persons recovered.
