About 32 thousand low and high-sized saplings were planted on the first day of the "A tree for our endurance" campaign of the 2019 fall. Most saplings, about five thousand, were planted in the Leova district.
According to a Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and the Environment press release, central and local public authority representatives, together with the forestry service, contributed to the creation of forest crops on a surface of 48 ha, helped to naturally regenerate a 12 ha area, completed forest crops on a 86 ha area and sowed a 0.5 ha area of forest nurseries.
The seeding material was provided by the National Ecological Fund project.
Several employees of the State Chancellery, Parliament, ministries and national agencies, planted pedunculated oak seedlings, white acacia, gorse, black pine, willow and poplar on a total area of about 30 ha, in Puhoi, Căpriana, Văsieni, Zloți, Bursuc, Ţânțăreni, Răzeni, Hârbovăț, Stejăreni, Călărași and Mitoc.
The goal of the "A tree for our endurance" campaign is to contribute to the regeneration of forests, to extend the areas occupied with forest vegetation, to improve environmental conditions, as well as to fortify river banks and to restore the rivers, so that by 2030, the area of forested land to increase to 16%, from 11.2%, as it currently stands.
The planting campaign will be carried out over the course of the entire autumn, as long as the weather allows it.
