Moldova and Mexico are able to more actively and productively cooperate, including in trade and industry, said Igor Munteanu, Moldova’s Ambassador to U.S., with residence in Washington, who will simultaneously service as Ambassador to Mexico. In a ceremony on July 14, the Moldovan diplomat handed over his credentials to the President of Mexico Fellipe Calderon, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a communiqué from the Moldovan Foreign Ministry, Igor Munteanu expressed his sincere wish to contribute to the development of advantageous cooperation relations with the United Mexican States and to foster the bilateral and multilateral political and diplomatic relations, the business contacts and cultural exchange, the transfer of knowledge as regards the protection of archeological sites and promotion of tourist routes.
Igor Munteanu underlined that Moldova is interested in identifying solutions so as to remove the obstacles hindering the Moldovan and Mexican citizens from obtaining visas, stimulating thus private initiative and the existent opportunities.
Fellipe Calderon promised to provide personal assistance in concluding a Moldovan-Mexican agreement on the regulation of the visa regime and the mutual promotion and protection of investments and joint business projects.
The credentials handover ceremony was followed by a news conference, where Igor Munteanu reiterated that making progress on the path to European integration is among Moldova’s top priorities.
