The American firm Checchi and Company Consulting will offer assistance to the Moldovan Government in carrying out reforms aimed at strengthening institutional capacity, transparency and accountability of key justice sector institutions. A memorandum to this effect was signed on Friday between the Ministry of Justice and the American company, MoJ said in a press release.
Among other activities, the consulting company will perform a functional analysis of the Judicial Administration Department, will develop the profile of every court, will assist justice sector institutions with budgeting, and develop a set of indicators which the authorities could use to evaluate the performance of courts and judges.
The company and the Ministry will also cooperate to improve the Integrated File Management Program, implement a system to make digital audio recordings of court sittings, and improve the courts' websites. Further, the company will provide relevant training.
The memorandum, which is part of the U.S.-funded Rule of Law Institutional Strengthening Program (ROLISP), also provides for a common effort to improve organizational, administrative and operational aspects of the judicial system management.
