An MP from the Liberal Democratic Party, Ghenadie Ciobanu, proposes the limiation of the list of State awards that can be offered posthumously. The MP explains that presently any kind of distinction or medal can be offered, some of which are, in his opinion, completely unfit. “Distinctions are offered, which are not fit for posthumously awards. For example, the Master of Arts of Homo Emeritus, or Artists Emeritus awards, and so on. I am certain it is illogical to offer some of these awards, since it means that the person continues his/her work, and thus receives an award”, stated Ghenadie Ciobanu, reports Info-Prim Neo. The Parliament proposes the preservation of the following awards, available posthumously: National Distinction, “Stefan cel Mare” Distinction, “Credinta Partiei” Distinction, “Gloria Muncii” Distinction, “Civil Merit” Medal, “Mihai Eminescu” Medal, and “Nicolae Testemitanu” Medal. Another proposal of the Liberal Democrat is that the person who has received a State distinction be deemed ineligible for another one for at least 4 years after the last award. Currently, this term is of one year. Exceptions would be distinctions and medals awarded for heroism, courage, and bravery.
