The Chisinau Court of Appeals today upheld the 30-day preventive arrest imposed on Anatolie Zagorodnîi, who is facing illicit enrichment charges together with four other former lawmakers.
Last week, Vladimir Vitiuc, Sergiu Sîrbu and Artur Reșetnicov saw their appeals for release on bail rejected as well. Only Violeta Ivanov was successful in overturning her 20-day arrest warrant.
The five former MPs were arrested on February 2 on illicit enrichment charges as a follow-up to an older investigation into the defection of a group of Communist MPs to the Democratic Party.
