“We have nothing to celebrate today, only 25 years of failures. People don’t care for parades and fireworks when they don’t have money to buy medicine and to pay their bills”, declared Andrei Nastase, head of the Dignity and Truth Platform Party. He held a press briefing on Friday, August 26, outside the State Residence, and asked the government leaders “to offer a gift to the people and resign on the 25th anniversary of Independence”.
The PPDA chairman says that all the politicians who have come into power over the last 25 years “have robbed the people not only of their money, but of their hope for tomorrow”. According to him, they changed the direction of the country – towards the East or the West – according to their own interests. In order to remain in power, they divided the people and turned them against one another because a divided society is easier to rob and manipulate.
Andrei Nastase added that “the country’s economy is on its knees and the judiciary has become a shield for crimes, as the judges protect the thieves and those who participated in the schemes that impoverished the people”. “The worst thing is that young people, the future of this country, are leaving, looking for a better life abroad, because nobody cares about them here”, said the politician. He stressed that Moldova needs a different kind of government, of Parliament, and a President of the people.
