Andrian Candu makes call for solidarity and unity in Warsaw

Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu made a call for solidarity to the legislative bodies of the region and pleaded for cooperation by exchanging experience, knowledge and expertise in the context of the challenges faced in Central and Eastern Europe. The statement was made in the Summit of Heads of Parliament of Central and Eastern Europe that is held in Warsaw during May 17-18. On the first day of his visit, Andrian Candu had a meeting with the President of Poland Andrzej Duda on the sidelines of the summit, IPN reports.

According to the Parliament’s press service, Andrian Candu in the summit underlined the main security challenges confronting Moldova and the states of the region, including propaganda, misinformation, energy and frozen conflicts.

In the meeting with the Deputy Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland Ryszard Terlecki, the officials agreed to stage a meeting of the Moldova – Poland Parliamentary Assembly in July, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Also today, Andrian Candu met with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary Laszlo Kover with whom he discussed the stimulation of cooperation, including on the parliamentary dimension. Andrian Candu accepted the invitation to visit Budapest this autumn.

The summit centers on such issues as the current challenges, role of national parliaments in international politics and others. The event involves the speakers and deputy speakers of Albania, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Montenegro, Georgia, Lithuania, Latvia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Ukraine, Hungary and representatives of the legislative bodies of Armenia, Austria, Belarus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Macedonia, and Turkey.
