Employees of the Security and Information Service (SIS) are forced by the institution's administration to intimidate the Communist MPs into making them vote for Marian Lupu as President of Moldova, anonymous information and security officers say in an open letter, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The letter says that there is a list of names of Communist MPs on which the officers must exert pressure and that the SIS employees who refuse to comply are dismissed and replaced with former KGB officers.
SIS director Gheorghe Mihai is accused of trying to restore the old working methods at the Security and Information Service. The authors of the letter threaten that if steps are not taken to stop these acts, they will reveal details about the unmasking of agents and officers working under cover while Gheorghe Mihai was heading the personnel department and about the tragical and mysterious death of two of them. The anonymous authors also say they possess information about the link between Gheorghe Mihai and Valeriu Pasat.
Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the press service of the SIS said the institution will issue an official statement on this issue in the form of a communique in the near future.
Sources in the SIS who wished to remain anonymous said the letter looks like provocation and that nobody would risk writing such a letter, not to mention signing it.
