The Administration Board of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) in its September 3 meeting decided to suspend its July 18 decision, by which higher electric power and natural gas distribution and supply tariffs are approved, for a period of 60 days, IPN reports.

In its decision, the Council recommends the operators of electricity and natural gas networks to choose internationally renowned companies to carry out an audit in the period so as to verify the size of the new tariffs calculated by the operators and the correctness of the relevant calculations.

The ANRE said the goal of the external audit is to remove all suspicions concerning the soundness of the decisions taken by its Administration Board on July 18 and the accuracy by which these tariffs were calculated.

After the external audit is completed, the Board will examine the presented assessments. Afterward, depending on the results, it will return to its July 18 decision to approve the new electricity and gas tariffs.
