The radio station Antena C has denied responsibility for allegations that the government and the Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) are putting pressure on the media. The disclaimer was issued by Antena C director Victoria Bucataru after a group of Komsomol (youth wing of the Communist Party) members picketed the BCC building and included the name of Antena C among the organizers of the protest, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We had no connection to the spontaneous rally organized by the Komsomol members. The public opinion was intentionally misinformed, which resulted in negative publicity for the radio station Antena C”, it was said in the disclaimer. Victoria Bucataru has underlined that no pressure whatsoever is being exerted by the government or the BCC on the institution she heads. The Komsomol protest took place on Thursday, February 25. The demonstrators collected signatures in support of a number of media institutions and for the dismissal of the BCC chairman, Gheorghe Gorincioi.
