Officers of the National Anticorruption Center carried out searches at Pruncul Penitentiary No. 9 on December 10. The operation was performed within a criminal cases started over misuse of power by employees of the prison, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Center.
The searches were ordered after a detainee was allowed to leave the penitentiary. Prosecutors consider the prisoner benefited from a preferential detention regime, ensured by persons from the penitentiary’s administration.
In the morning of December 10, he was caught in his office in Chisinau. The culprit is serving time in prison for committing very serious offenses and his movement without escort is banned by law.
The Center will provide details about the searches in a news conference on December 11.
