The Anti-Mafia Movement will temporarily stop the protests. The movement’s leader Sergiu Mocanu said such a decision was taken because they don’t want their actions to be interpreted as support given to the protests staged by other organizations, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The protests mounted by the Anti-Mafia Movement do not form part of the activities carried out by the Communists and the Congress for Defending the Constitution and Democracy. We protest against the mafia essence of the government headed by Vlad Plahotniuc (First Deputy Speaker – e.n.) and Prime Minister Vlad Filat,” Sergiu Mocanu said in a news conference on February 6.
He also said that the protests will be resumed after the Communists and the Congress end their protests. “It is absurd and ridiculous for the dictators to take to the streets and shout “Down with the dictatorship!”. We struggled against the Communists, but now understood that the ruling mafia and the Communists are alike,” said Sergiu Mocanu.
He stressed that some of his colleagues informed the European organizations about the mafiotization of the Moldovan administration. “Our protesters in Brussels posted the slogan: “Your partners are our executioners,” said Mocanu.
According to him, there were issued two court decisions that ban him from coming close to the property of Vlad Plahotniuc. A new trial starts on February 14. It is aimed at prohibiting the public events organized by the Anti-Mafia Movement.
Earlier, Sergiu Mocanu said they will stage protests near the property of those who attacked the state institutions. The movement planned to mount a series of protests near Codru Hotel, the building of Ipteh Company, the club Drive, Nobil Club Hotel and the Business Global Center. The first protest took place on January 30, in front of Codru Hotel.
Sergiu Mocanu said that Vlad Filat and Vlad Plahotniuc last autumn agreed to share the spheres of influence and not to attack each other. Also then, the Premier gave up his intention to obtain the dismissal of the prosecutor general, as he wanted several weeks before meeting with Plahotniuc.
