The Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime Monday began inspecting the drugstores in northern and southern Moldova to see how they adjusted the prices to those included in the National Catalogue of Drug Prices, the Center’s spokeswoman Angela Starinschi has told Info-Prim Neo. The inspections in the municipality of Chisinau will start in the afternoon. “The Center will carry out the inspections under dual pressure – of the dissatisfied pharmacists and of civil society that is expecting these checks and price decreases,” Angela Starinschi said. A meeting involving officials of the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime, the Ministry of Health and druggists will take place at the Government later today. The National Catalogue of Drug Prices that includes 4,000 names of drugs came into force on January 1, 2011. The pharmaceutical companies were given more than two weeks to adjust the prices. The profit margin on the drugs must not exceed 40% of the price written in the Catalogue.
