Anticorruption inspector suspected of trafficking in persons

An inspector of the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime is suspected of trafficking in human beings. Allegedly, he and an accomplice of his obliged a 19-year-old girl to provide sexual services for money, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a communiqué from the Prosecutor General’s Office, the inspector and his supposed accomplice had been the young woman’s clients. Afterward, posing as police officers, they forced her to provide sexual services for other clients. The girl was to pay them weekly by €100. The two threatened her that they will arrest her for prostitution if she does not pay the money.
In June-July this year, the suspects obtained 1,350 lei from the victim. They were caught in the act of taking the next sum of money from the victim in her apartment.
In a communiqué, the Center confirmed that one of the suspects is an employee of the institution. It described the case as condemnable and shameful.
The case is investigated by the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Ministry of the Interior’s Center for Combating Trafficking in Persons.
