Apa-Canal Chisinau employees buy house for flood-stricken family

A family with 3 children whose house was destroyed by the last summer floods got a new house from the employees of the Chisinau water supplier Apa-Canal (ACC). The representatives of the company handed over the keys to the new dwellers on Friday, September 5, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to ACC's press unit, the 2,000 employees decided to transfer their one-day remuneration to a special account. The gathered money was used to buy a house for the Mihcov family from Purcari village, Stefan-Voda district, whose house was destroyed by the freshet. The new house has a backyard of 42 ares and cost 10,100 euros. ACC's manager, Constantin Becciev, wished the Mihcovs to live long and peacefully in the new dwelling, to be spared of elements and problems in life. “Now we're already a big family,” Becciev said. The Mihcovs thanked the ACC employees for their gesture. The last summer floods caused damages assessed at $120 million. 20% of those are damages inflicted to infrastructure, ands 15% stroke farmlands. 65% of the damages were brought to houses, as 233 families remained homeless.
