An application named “Deaf Info Center” intended for people with hearing impairments was launched in Moldova. By downloading it from the App Store or Google Play Store, the hearing-impaired people will have access to essential information and services in an adapted and accessible way, IPN reports.

“This application allows people with hearing impairments to use the services of a sign language interpreter in videoconference format. The project is implemented by the Association of the Deaf of the Republic of Moldova, with the support of the European Union,” said the Government’s spokesman Daniel Vodă.

Earlier, the chairman of the Association of the Deaf Ruslan Lopatiuc expressed his hope that thanks to this project, the people with hearing impairments will be able to solve all their urgent problems. “There were cases when people got into accidents or felt sick and needed urgent help. This service aims to provide an urgent response to such situations,” stated Daniel Vodă.

According to data of the National Public Health Agency, the incidence of ear diseases in Moldova is at high levels.
