Applications for agricultural subsidies can be filed from Feb. 1

The applications for agricultural subsidies can be submitted starting with February 1. Under the regulations concerning the method of distributing the resources of the agriculture subsidization fund approved by the Government, two new subsidization measures will be instituted this year: stimulation of consolidation of farmland, and irrigation of land, Info-Prim Neo reports. Also, the producers aged between 18 and 30 will obtain subsidies by 10% higher than the subsidies granted under general conditions. Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov said that the subsidies this year are aimed at stimulating investments in rural areas and increasing agricultural products’ competitiveness by improving the quality of sorting, storing, packing, etc. The applications for subsidies will be accepted until October 31, 2013. The agriculture subsidization fund for 2013 is by 60 million lei higher than in 2012, when it was 400 million lei.
