Applications for unmanned operations can be submitted online, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has said. It is a pilot project that aims to test the platform and the ways of interacting with citizens.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority, after the platform is tested, it will be improved before its subsequent official launch. The platform will operate in parallel with the standard air traffic control procedure.
Contacted by IPN for details, Irina Bodolica, senior specialist in the Authority’s International Cooperation and Media Communication Division, said that the online application will save time. Until now, in order to receive the respective authorization, the applicant had to go to the CAA to submit the requested package of documents.
Users of the platform can give feedback on flyid@caa.gov.md to help improve the process, noted the Authority.
Annually, the CAA issues an average of 40 authorizations for about 100 remote pilots and 100 unmanned aircraft (drones). The figure is on the rise.
