Communist MP Iurie Stoicov, who was questioned today by prosecutors as a witness in the cases related to the April 2009 events, said April 7 was a tragedy for our country, for the hundreds of police officers who were bleeding in front of the Parliament, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I was inside the Parliament during the protests and was there by about 5 P.M., when it became imposable to breath there owing to the smoke and fire,” Iurie Stoicov said before giving testimony at the Prosecutor's Office. As other colleagues of his from the PCRM, Iurie Stoicov considers that a coup was attempted on April 7, 2009. According to the MP, the devastation of the Parliament Building and the Presidential Office could have been avoided, but the persons who organized those acts knew what they were doing. “Those who staged the protests in the Great National Assembly Square on April 7 are also responsible for what happened,” said Stoicov, adding only the investigations will reveal the truth. Iurie Stoicov also said that he did not see the images taken by the video cameras from the Government Building on the night of April 8, which were made public by Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca on April 1. He said he does not understand why the Government kept them secret during almost a year, but it is the specialists that should pronounce on this. As to Valerui Boboc, Stoicov said he found out about his death from the press and possesses no other information.
