Artillery shell found in yard of high school

An artillery shell dating from the Second World War was discovered in the yard of the Chisinau-based high school “Ion Creanga”. Liliana Puscasu, spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the 100mm shell was found by the high school's electrician during embankment works. Employees of the Chisinau Emergencies Division and of the Rascani police commissariat were on the scene immediately. In several hours, the shell was taken by the bomb squad of the National Army to be destroyed. A 70mm shell was found in a garden in Tipala village, Ialoveni. It was neutralized by combat engineers. As many as 145 cases of discovering Soviet shells dating from World War II have been recorded this year.
