Athletes arrested for stealing gold necklaces

Two athletes from a sports club in Chisinau were arrested by the police for robbery. According to the General Police Commissariat, the suspects robbed women of gold necklaces in the street, Info-Prim Neo reports. The duo, aged 23 and 24, did their job during daylight on the streets in Rascani district. They were identified and arrested based on complaints received by the police. A search in their homes found several gold necklaces. According to police data, the value of stolen things rises to 15,000 lei. So far, the police have evidence for three cases, but they don’t rule out that the number of robberies is higher. They are currently watched by the law enforcement bodies and prosecuted for robbery. They risk a penalty of 3 to 7 years in jail, with or without a fine of up to 20,000 lei.
