An attempt to illegally take 600,000 hryvnias from Russia into Moldova was thwarted by customs officers. It happened at the Leușeni customs post during a check on a bus with passengers traveling from the Russian Federation to Moldova, IPN reports.
Drivers and passengers said they had nothing to declare. However, customs officers discovered among the luggage three black bags in which money belonging to one of the drivers was found hidden among the clothes. The amount totaled 600,000 hryvnia in banknotes with a nominal value of 200, the Customs Service said.
The 45-year-old man, a citizen of the Republic of Moldova, didn’t provide explanations about the purpose of transporting the money from the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova. The money was seized and the investigation goes on.
