Employees of the Leuseni customs post, in concert with border guards and representatives of the National Customs Authorities of Romania, thwarted an attempt to illegally export tobacco products to the value of over €3,000 to the EU on the night of May 21, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the Customs Service of Moldova, a Romanian citizen driving a luxury car Mercedes registered in Iasi told the customs officers that he transported only personal effects. But when checking his car, the officers found over 2,000 packets of cigarettes with Moldovan excise stamps, hidden in different parts of the vehicle. The tobacco products were seized, while the driver was fined.
