An attic-like apartment story of a building located in Buiucani district of Chisinau started to burn at about 10am on March 10. The flames engulfed an apartment from the upper story. There was no one inside it, but the firemen evacuated a number of dwellers from the same story, including a three-year-old child, due to the dens smoke.
The fire happened in a seven-story apartment building situated on Sucevita St. The last two stories of this building consist of attic-like apartments. Five firefighting vehicles were on the spot immediately. Press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Diana Turcan has told IPN that a part of the dwellers were evacuated without delay, with some of them being taken out with the help of ladders.
The fire was localized in about 20 minutes. The firefighters are now carrying out washing and dismantling works. The flames destroyed one room of the apartment. The cause of fire is not yet known.
Employees of the anti-fire experimental lab are working at the scene.
