The Audit Office and the Public Policy Institute signed a memorandum of understanding for improving the process of implementing the recommendations of civil society. The memorandum is aimed at enhancing supervision of the implementation of the Audit Office recommendations by the responsible authorities as an instrument for optimizing the use of public money and increasing transparency in the implementation process, Info-Prim Neo reports. Audit Office chairman Serafim Urecheanu said the institution he heads is responsible for inspecting the formation, administration and management of public finances and public patrimony by external auditing. As the audited authorities do not take definite steps, there are no improvements in the management of public finances. Public Policy Institute director Arcadie Barbarosie stated that less than 50% of the recommendations of the Audit Office are implemented. The cooperation with the mass media and the broader informing about the role of the auditing recommendations will enable to increase the implementation degree. The signatories will work out an action plan for implementing the memorandum, with civil society being informed quarterly. The project is financed by Soros Foundation Moldova.
