Poet and writer Aureliu Busuioc was the guest of the second edition of the Poetry Evenings at the Cartier Publishing House, Info-Prim Neo reports. “It is an unusual evening, because to us this poet means half a century of Romanian poetry. Aureliu Busuioc has also written prose, but in my opinion his best work is his poetry”, Emilian Galaicu-Paun, Cartier’s chief editor and moderator of the poetry evenings, said. However, the protagonist of the evening, Aureliu Busuioc, confessed that he has always wanted to be considered a prose writer and that his dream was to become the greatest reader of Romanian literature. “I became the ever-greedy reader of Blaga, Barbu, Arghezi, Toparceanu, Bacovia and others”. He also confessed that in the Soviet period his personal home library had been devastated but the library “under his haircut” could not be confiscated. Aureliu Busuioc read poems from different periods of his life. The event brought together writers, professors, book editors, students. Even the customers of the bookstore stopped for some moments to listen to the poems and some of the stories about the poet’s life. Besides Aureliu Busuioc a range of other poets and writers read their works: Aurelia Borzin, Liliana Lupascu, Andrei Turcanu and Vladimir Besleaga. “The Writers Union was a nice place when we had Aureliu Busuioc with us. He came to the country with another language {(Busuioc studied agronomy in Timisoara – editor’s note)}, and we were simply listening to the way he was speaking. His home was our home”, poet Dumitru Matcovschi said. Another participant in the meeting, ambassador of the Czech Republic in Moldova, Petr Kypr gifted Aureliu Busuioc a silver coin as a sign of esteem. “I decided to come to Moldova after reading a book by Aureliu Busuioc”, the ambassador stated. The poetry evenings at the Cartier Publishing House will be resumed after the summer vacation. Traditionally the event takes place in the Center Book Store, on Stefan-cel-Mare Boulevard in Chisinau.
