The disposable incomes of the population in 2017 rose by 9% on a year before to 2,244.9 lei per person a month. The average monthly consumption costs were 2,250.3 lei per person on average, an increase of 6.2% on 2016, IPN reports.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the salary remains the most important source of income, with a share of 43.1% of the total incomes. The social benefits are the second source of income by importance. These represented 23.4% of the average monthly incomes. The cash transfers from abroad made up 16.5% of the incomes.
The urban population’s incomes were by 754 lei/person on average higher than in rural areas. The rural population is dependent on transfers from abroad to a greater extent. These represented 22.3% of the incomes, as opposed to 11% in the case of the urban population.
The average monthly incomes remained practically at the same level as a year before. The largest part of the available incomes went on food – 43.4%. A person allocated on average 18.6% of the total consumption costs for maintaining the dwelling, 10.4% for clothes and footwear, 5.9% for health services, 4.5% for communications, 3.9% for home outfitting, 3.7% for transport, 0.5% for education, etc.
Given that the urban population has larger incomes, the consumption costs were by 760.3 lei higher than those of the rural population. In urban areas, the population allocated 40.8% of the monthly consumption costs for food, while in rural areas – 46.2%.
