The best journalists of 2017 were awarded at the annual Award Gala of the Press Club of Chisinau that was staged by the Independent Journalism Center and the Committee for the Freedom of the Press in the evening of December 14, IPN reports.
Among the awardees is Elena Cioina, of the platform E-Sanatate, who was awarded for the editorial about breast cancer. Two awards were conferred in the Investigative Journalism category – on Ziarul de Garda, for treating issues of major public interest, and on journalist Iurie Sanduta of RISE Moldova, for the investigation “Made in Parliament”.
In the TV feature category, the two awards were given to journalist Liuba Shevchuk of RISE Moldova, for the investigation “Education through violence” and to journalist Alexandru Popescu of Radio Free Europe, for the series of features “Romania – 10 years on the EU map”. Natalia Patrushevici of the paper SP Balti was awarded in the Print Media Feature category.
Newsmaker.md’s special project “Nobody will ever return – your bones will decay here”, about Moldovans deported in the Soviet period, was awarded in the Multimedia Feature category. The project “Our River” produced by Andrei Moraru of the Reporters Association “People and Kilometers” was awarded in the Photo Feature category.
There were also awarded special prizes. The Debut of the Year award was given for the project “People and Kilometers”, while the Evolution of the Year award went to the youth news portal Diez.md. Svetlana Gore, reporter of TVR Moldova, was awarded as the Hope of the Year.
The blog of journalist Elena Robu, elenarobu.md, was named the best blog. Alina Radu, director of the newspaper Ziarului de Garda, was awarded for Responsible Journalism in a series of features about Nicolina Bulat. Rise Leaks got the Innovative Journalism award.
The National Journalistic Ethics and Professional Deontology Award 2017 was conferred by the Press Council on the investigative newspaper Ziarul de Garda.
The Award Gala of the Press Club was at its 23rd edition.
