BACI publishes list of most accessed Moldovan websites

One of the most accessed websites in Moldova is www.odnoklassniki.ru (67% of the study participants), followed by www.mailru (57%) and www.999.md (24%). The data was published on Monday, September 3rd by the Bureau of Audit on Circulation and the Internet (BACI) and the International Research Agency, Info-Prim Neo reports. Almost 3,000 internet users participated in the survey. Catalin Emilian, “Gemius Research” manager for Romania and Moldova told a press conference that, judging by the time spent by the average internet user on a website, the most popular is www.999.md. The top most surfed websites are www.protv.md, www.point.md , www.publika.md , www.play.md , and others. According to the survey there are more than 1.5 million internet-users in Moldova, meaning that more than 50.5% of the population has access to the internet. Out of all of the users, the majority is men (54%), but women have more pageviews. The study also shows that the Moldovan internet users are mostly youth between 20 and 29 years of age (37%). Regionally speaking, Moldova is the second country in which the youth are the majority of the internet users, the first one being Turkey. Nevertheless, people 50 years old and older are also using the internet in great number (15%). Catalina Emilian has declared that more than half of the online population comes from Chisinau, and over a third of them are persons with higher education. BCAI was founded with the intention of providing the Moldovan publicity industry objective and independent indicators regarding the performance of media, which are necessary for distributing advertising budgets on a professional basis.
