The Supreme Justice Court (CSJ) proposed that judges fired for professional incompetence or disciplinary deviations be deprived of privileged pensions. This is an amendment to the bill regarding the modification of several articles of the Law on judicial organization. The appointments and immunities legal commission approved the bill in second reading on Wednesday, June 27, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Thus, judges with disciplinary deviations will not have the right to demand the one-payment indemnity for sacking and the pension in privilege conditions, which ensue at the age 50, a smaller contribution period, annual indexation and others.
Member of the Magistrates’ Superior Council (CSM) Nichifor Corochii attended the debates, but disapproved of the initiative, claiming the privileged pension was one of the judges’ rights, and could not be taken away. He thinks that the issue should be first discussed inside the CSM and only afterwards should the CSJ propose the amendment.
The bill should be included on the agenda of the Parliament’s meeting this week.
