The barbed wire fence placed along the border with Romania continues to be taken out. Only two more areas remained fenced, the head of the Border Guard Service Alexei Roibu has told Info-Prim Neo. “The barbed wire continues to fence the Costesti Rock area and the Domnesti wood. It protects the two reserves. In the near future, Moldova's Water Agency will identify a solution how to protect these reserves and the wire in these areas will be also removed,” Roibu said. About 3,000 tonnes of barbed wire were stored at the border guard posts. The mayors of the border settlements suggests using the wire for fencing the farmland or animal farms. The wire could be also used to build new bridges over the Prut. “We will inform the Government about the proposals we received. A final decision will be taken at the executive's meeting. The barbed wire might be distributed to the local public authorities,” Alexei Roibu said. A mobile phone project to secure the state border will be launched in the second half of April. The project is financed by the European Union and is implemented by Ericsson and Motorola.
