Barrage yields in Gotesti village

The barrage in Gotesti village of Cantemir district burst under the pressure of water. A break of about 10 meters appeared in the barrier, Emergencies Service spokeswoman Liliana Puscasu has told Info-Prim Neo. The barrage along the Prut River is 7 kilometers long and 7 meters high. The water passed through the opening and flooded a part of the Prut meadow and farmland. The houses were not affected as they are situated at least 2.5 kilometers from the river. The rescuers evacuated 1,770 sheep from the flooded area. Liliana Puscasu said the level of the Prut water has decreased by 5 to 15 centimeters up to Cantemir district. However, it rose by 7 centimeters in Gotesti and by 1 centimeter in the villages of Cahul and Hancesti district that are located in the Prut meadow. The releases from the Costesti-Stanca reservoir are 480 cubic meters per second. The Nistru water level also fell by 5-15 centimeters. In Vadul lui Voda town, the water receded.
