The Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) proposed that the national production in the broadcasting services, except the movies, should represent not less than 30% of the weekly broadcast volume. A draft decision to this effect was presented for public debates, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Article 11 of the Broadcasting Code says that from January 1, 2010, at least 80% of the volume of broadcasting services must represent own production, national production and European works. 50% of this volume must be transmitted during prime time. The law does not yet say what percentage of the 80% the national production must represent.
“The proposed decision sets the given percentage at not less than 30%,” Ion Duhlicher, head of the Legal and Legislation Observation Division, who is a rapporteur on this matter, said in a meeting of the Council.
The conception was unanimously supported by all the BCC members. It will be published on the institution’s website. After consultations with broadcasters and public associations, the Council will put it to the vote.
