The Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) would like to receive more challenges from people concerning the violation of the Broadcasting Code by the broadcasters, Info-Prim Neo reports. “If the people are more active in this respect, the BCC will work more efficiently. I think our people are not sufficiently informed about the Council’s work and do not know that they can file applications to the BCC,” Council member Mariana Onceanu-Hadarca said in a roundtable meeting. BCC chairman Marian Pocaznoi said in Romania for example the National Broadcasting Council is trusted by a large part of the population, while in Moldova not even 3% of the people would be able to say what the Council deals with. “One of the aims of the campaign “What does your child see on TV?” is to inform the population about the existence of the BCC and the possibility of writing challenges to it when necessary,” said Marian Pocaznoi. BCC member Dinu Ciocan, who is responsible for the green line that the people can use to report something, said that only 10% of the submitted applications concern the topic, while the rest refer to the Moldovans’ dissatisfaction and troubles. According to the members of the BCC, some people complained about one of the videos launched during the campaign, saying the pictures are horrible. The BCC earlier recommended all the TV channels to broadcast the four videos produced for the camping “What does your child see on TV?” in prime time. The BCC members said the pictures for the three videos are harsher so as to show that the violent news and the movies with aggressive and indecent images have a negative effect on the minors. The fourth video refers to the green line of the BCC, where every person who saw such pictures on TV without warning signs can inform the Council about the violation of the law.
