The private television channel NIT (New Televised Ideas), which remained without broadcasting license on April 5, requested the Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) to invalidate its decision. In the April 27 meeting of the Council, the shareholder of NIT Sergey Drobot said they will appeal to the ECHR and will definitely win the case, Info-Prim Neo reports. The NIT’s request to annul the April 5 decision was rejected by six members of the BCC. Council member Corneliu Mihalache voted in favor, while another member Vitalie Tabunshchik abstained. “You will pay the damages I will claim at the ECHR. You will admit that you were guilty when you took such a decision. My rights were violated. I invested millions of dollars in this channel. Dozens of people remained without a job,” said Sergey Drobot. He also said that under Article 10, point 2 of the European Convention on Human Rights, a broadcasting license is withdrawn when the broadcaster calls to disobedience to the government and public disorder and poses a threat to society. He stressed that the NIT has never done something like. BCC chairman Marian Pocaznoi said that the Council’s decision is justified and based on the law and if somebody doubts its legality, they can go to court.
