The depositors of Banca de Economii (BEM) born in 1991 and 1926, who filed applications by April 1, 2013, can receive back the money deposited with the bank from May 2, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Ministry of Finance.
The depositors born in 1991 will receive the money paid back at the first stage, while those born in 1926 at the second stage.
After the Moldovan leu was put into circulation and the prices were liberalized, the people’s deposits got devalued over 1,000 times. At the first stage, the state pays back to the depositors 1 lei per 1 Soviet ruble for the first 1,000 rubles. The rest of the money at the second stage is returned according to the ratio of 1 leu : 2.5 rubles.
