Bender Court of Appeals judge to be punished disciplinarily

Minister of Justice Oleg Efrim ordered taking disciplinary action against the judge of the Bender Court of Appeals who legalized the appropriation of shares from Moldova Agroindbank (MAIB). He also asked the Prosecutor General’s Office to investigate the judge’s actions so as to take legal proceedings against him, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Ministry of Justice. The minister asked that the investigation be performed swiftly so that the public opinion and the foreign partners find out the truth about what happened. “I expect this case will be treated with seriousness and professionalism. I will attentively follow how my application is treated and will express my viewpoint when I consider necessary. I hope this time this serious case will not be put into a drawer and forgotten there,” said Oleg Efirm. He stressed that those who break the law must be penalized so that the people’s confidence in judges is restored. On September 14, the Supreme Court of Justice quashed the decision of the Bender Court of Appeals whereby a number of shareholders of MAIB were deprived of shares.
